Ello everyone!!
I have just been away to Brazil for 2 weeks and it was the best time of my life!! I have never experienced anything like it!! All the people out there are awesome!! My Dad had been out seven times before and my brother had been out three times so when i went i felt as if i knew eveyone already because of all the stories i'd heard.
We got there and as soon as we walked into Ben & Miriam's house, the family we were staying with, there were people queueing up to talk to us. It made you feel almost celebrity like.
We did some mission work in the town. Painting people's houses and washing their floors. Basicly making them feel loved and special. Because after all they are.
In the mornings we had these great meetings where there was just time to worship and spend some time God. Then in the evenings there were open air meetings which our mission team took an active part in.Our mission team consisted of 10 Brits and bout 20 Brazilians.
As i said we were out in Brazil for 2 weeks and for the first week we were doing mission work but for the second week we went and visited people who we had done mission work for. There was this one man called Severino who was about 84 years and one of his feet was obviously broken. He had a lump on the bridge of his foot which was blatently out of place. It had been broken and locked in the place for about ten years! Anyway we were talking to him about his life and how long he'd lived in Ibiara etc. when the issue of his foot came up. So, we thought it would be good to pray for it. So we prayed for it in Jesus name and by the time we had left the lump on his foot had gone and he had nearly full movement back in his foot for the first time in ten years! God's power is awesome!
For me, it was great to experience life in a different and somewhat poorer culture where people are so less dependent on material things to keep them going. Instead they focus on God and that's better because at the end of the day that's the only way we're going to get anywhere in life.
It was great to be on a team as well. Compared to other teams that have been out to Brazil in the ast it was quite a young team. I really enjoyed getting to know everyone on the team and builiding relationship with them (cheers Vovo Chris, Dad, Jon, Ben, Asheelay(aka Ashley), Bob(aka Kate), Pheobe, Richard, Shiela for a great time).
Cheers Ben, Miriam and everyone in the ACEV Ibiara church. It was great to have stayed with you. You're are a real blessings to your community and everyone you come in contact with.
I hope this has been at least a little bit interesting and i hope you get a little bit of an impression of how much i enjoyed my time in Brazil.
Cheers for reading this.
God Bless.
